The City of Rockingham’s free New Year’s Eve Celebration is back with a bang this year, with two fireworks displays and a headline performance by WA rock band Eskimo Joe. A major part of the City’s Summer Series events, the New Year’s Eve celebrations will kick off at Churchill Park from 5pm with a number of child-friendly activities and food vendors available. Eskimo Joe will be supported by AbbaFab, VHS Pirates, PUMP and a number of other local acts with the first of the fireworks displays to start at 9pm before the main display at midnight. City of Rockingham mayor Deb Hamblin said after having to cancel the concert last year due to COVID-19 restrictions, the City was excited to be able to continue its tradition of New Year’s Eve performances this year. “The New Year’s Eve celebration is a major annual event that attracts thousands of visitors, and we’re looking forward to putting on a great show to farewell 2022,” Ms Hamblin said. “It’s a fantastic opportunity to see one of WA’s biggest bands perform live and free, and to come together to celebrate and reflect on what has been another busy and at times challenging year. “Our City is the place where the coast comes to life, and we encourage people from far and wide to come visit and see Eskimo Joe perform their hits against the backdrop of our beautiful foreshore.” Additional parking will be available at the Village Green and those wanting to take public transport can also access additional bus services that will be operating from Rockingham Train Station every 15 minutes between 4pm and 1am.
