Liza Agnes Thompson pleads guilty to damages and a serious threat to kill charge

A 43-year-old woman has pleaded guilty to a string of charges including threatening to “slit” the throats of a group of men after a friendly chat turned ugly. Liza Agnes Thompson appeared before Rockingham Magistrates Court last Friday charged with one count of disorderly behaviour in public, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a prohibited drug (cannabis) and criminal damage. Prosecutor Sgt Scott Andrews told the court that at 33.35pm on August 28, 2022, Thompson was sat in a parking lot outside a shopping centre in Warnbro where she was smoking and listening to music. The victim parked his vehicle and approached Thompson. The victim and his friends proceeded to have a friendly chat with Thompson until she attempted to tell the group of men that she wanted to be left alone. However, they proceeded to talk and continue to engage her in conversation. Thompson then muttered, “I’m going to slit your throat”, while making cutting gestures to the group of men. As the victim and his friends walked back to their vehicle, Thompson kicked the car’s door and the victim attempted to drive away. Thompson threw a motorcycle helmet at the window of the victim’s car, causing it to shatter. Duty lawyer Justin Geoghegan said that Thompson was sitting by herself when the four men approached. “When (Thompson) she tried to signal that she wanted to be left alone, the group continued to talk to her,” he said. “She became frustrated and made those comments to herself.” Mr Geoghegan said that Thompson used cannabis occasionally and did not believe it was problematic. Magistrate Heidi Watson took into account that Thompson was minding her own business and just “chilling out” but “probably shouldn’t have been using cannabis”. Thompson was fined $850.
