The City of Kwinana has opened applications for the latest round of the Community Funding Program, with grants of up to $5000 available for local projects.

In partnership with the Kwinana Community Chest, the current round will be open for applicants until September 21.

City of Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams said the program had enabled local sporting and community groups to experience a greater level of local support since it began in 2017.

“Local groups can apply for financial support to run programs, projects, workshops and training, or to purchase equipment,” she said.

Organisations can also apply for funding for minor equipment such as sporting equipment, gardening tools, furniture or trailers.

The Kwinana Blue Jays Baseball Club was among the grant recipients announced as part of the second round of 2021, using the funds for new equipment including gear bags, fold-away tees, tee-balls, baseballs and bats.

Kwinana Community Chest trustee John Iriks said the program provided an extra layer of financial support to certain community groups within the city.

“The program welcomes applications of up to $5000 from local community organisations to support capacity-building and community engagement projects that will be undertaken within Kwinana,” he said.

All applications are considered through a grants assessment and approval process, undertaken by a panel of four representatives from the City of Kwinana and the Kwinana Community Chest.
