Residents close to a fire at a commercial facility in Henderson have been warned to stay inside, away from potentially dangerous smoke.

Firefighters are at a business on Jessie Lee Road fighting to contain a blaze at the facility on Tuesday morning.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has warned people in the area bounded by Cockburn Road, Russell Road, Jessie Lee Street and Zedora Turn may be impacted by smoke.

The substance involved has been identified as aluminium phosphate.

Those in the area have been asked to stay keep windows and doors closed.

Air-conditioners should also be switched off.

Those not already in the area should stay away.
