Federal Government announces funding for projects at 11 schools in Rockingham and Kwinana

Eleven schools across Rockingham and Kwinana are set for improvements as part of the Federal Government’s School Upgrade Fund. Four classrooms, sensory rooms and therapy spaces will be built at Koorana Education Support Centre in Warnbro, while Gilmore College’s library will be refurbished with sensory rooms and collaboration spaces. Funds will also be used for new information and communications technology equipment at Port Kennedy Primary School, an outdoor playground at St Vincent’s Primary School in Kwinana, and upgraded air-conditioning and ventilation at Charthouse Primary School in Waikiki. Shade structures will be installed and upgraded at Rivergums Primary School in Baldivis, Rockingham Senior High School Education Support Centre and Waikiki Primary School. The funding will also go towards outdoor learning spaces, shade structures and providing flexible learning arrangements at Tuart Rise Primary School in Baldivis, upgrades to outdoor learning at Warnbro Community High School Education Support Centre, and Peel Language Development School in Port Kennedy will receive new outdoor learning spaces, shade structures and provision of flexible learning arrangements. Brand MHR Madeleine King said the funding would ensure “students across the Rockingham and Kwinana area won’t be left behind on their learning”. “From new classrooms and laptops to upgraded outdoor sports equipment, this funding has delivered upgrades to local schools that need it the most,” she said.
