Comet Bay College football team wins fourth Eagles cup

Comet Bay College’s Australian Football Specialist Program (AFSP) Year 8 and 9 boys team is celebrating another successful season after winning the WAFC Eagles Schoolboys Cup.
It is the school’s fourth victory in the Waalitj Division, which is the top division in the competition.
The term two competition saw 10 metro schools battle it out for the top spot, with Comet Bay remaining undefeated.
Warwick Senior High School hoped to secure their first title in the grand final but Comet Bay took home the big win after a stellar performance to close the competition 5.4 (34) to 1.3 (9) at Mineral Resources Park.
Comet Bay College started strong when Kye Sarich kicked three goals in the first 10 minutes of the game. He was named best team player and received the match ball.
Comet Bay’s strong defensive backline proved unbreakable, rebounding all of Warwick’s attempts and keeping them scoreless in the first half.
Zachary Sarsero was judged best on ground and won the Ross Davis Medal.
Comet Bay College AFSP coordinator Steve Thomson congratulated the boys for their outstanding efforts and said it was wonderful to see them celebrate after the final siren.
“The Eagles Cup is the biggest sporting competition among secondary schools in WA and to win its top division four times is a testament to the dedication and commitment of Comet Bay College’s coaching staff and students — an achievement certainly worth celebrating by all at the College and the wider community,” he said.
“We work extremely hard to instil strong values and a work ethic that will benefit each individual student now and in future years and they have reaped the rewards for a great season.”
