City of Rockingham seeks feedback on plans to relocate Secret Harbour public open space

The City of Rockingham is encouraging residents to give feedback on plans to relocate a piece of public open space in Secret Harbour. The proposal relates to an undeveloped section of the Anstey Park development in Secret Harbour, which abuts Kimberley Drive, Warnbro Sound Avenue and Surf Drive. The city wants to amend the Anstey Park structure plan to move the planned open space from a northern portion of the site 225m further south, along Surf Drive. A report by city staff said the existing location was at the “highest point of site” and would require “significant earthworks”. “The current location is not practical due to the required earthworks and a drainage network discharging into the stormwater basin contained within the POS,” it said. “Amending the location will greatly reduce the volume of earthworks and tie into the area with the surrounding road network.” The site allows for R20 and R30 residential zoning, with the R30 lots to be relocated to surrounding the parkland. The report said the amendment was minor and would not impact the size of the open space, residential density or number of homes to be built.
