Locals are being urged to bring their Christmas spirit as the City of Rockingham gears up for its annual Christmas Festival this weekend.

Hosted at Churchill Park on December 10, the event will kick off at 5pm and feature music and dance entertainment across two stages, free children’s activities, food vans, market stalls, a sensory-friendly chill-out zone, snow pit and snow machine, and a visit from Santa.

The highly anticipated switching on of the Christmas lights will then happen at 8pm.

The festival is a popular annual fixture on the city’s calendar and held as part of the Summer Series of free entry, family- riendly, smoke and alcohol-free events.

Rockingham mayor Deb Hamblin encouraged all locals to celebrate Christmas at the Rockingham Foreshore.

“The city’s Christmas Festival has grown to be one of our most popular annual events, with families embracing the opportunity to enjoy the arrival of the festive season in a relaxed, family friendly environment,” Ms Hamblin said.

“During the Christmas Festival, visitors can have their photo taken with Santa and his helpers, while the stunning turning on of the Christmas lights will brighten up Churchill Park, the Beach Plaza, The Lookout and the Boardwalk.”

Limited additional parking for the event will be available at the Village Green from 4.30pm until full, while those wanting to take public transport can catch the 555 bus from Rockingham station.
