City of Kwinana’s annual Lolly Run spreading joy this festive season

Kwinana’s sweetest event is again taking to the streets for Christmas. The annual Christmas Lolly Run will see more than 35,000 lolly bags distributed to children throughout the City of Kwinana from December 17 to 23. Four trucks and 100 volunteers are helping to make the magical event possible, which has been running for 65 years. Residents are encouraged to listen out for the beeps and festive music to signal the approaching trucks, and can also track their progress live via the city’s website. Kwinana mayor Peter Feasey said the lolly run was a unique event that aimed to spread joy ahead of the holiday season. “This annual tradition isn’t just about sharing lollies, it’s about spreading joy and building connections within our tight-knit community,” he said. “Volunteers generously give their time to make this event a success, by creating magical moments that are treasured by young and old.” He also encouraged residents to visit Chisham Square to take photos with dazzling light installations including a Santa bear, giant kangaroo and Christmas tree. The lolly run kicks off in Medina, Wandi and Mandogalup on December 17 and continues nightly from 4.30pm to 8.30pm, finishing in Parmelia and Kwinana’s town centre on December 23. Local volunteer bushfire brigades are co-ordinating runs in suburbs, including Anketell and Casuarina, and will advise dates online closer to the event. More information at kwinana.wa.gov.au/lollyrun.
