Kwinana is bringing council to community at its next meeting in a bid to better engage with locals about what the city is actively working on and discuss any community issues or concerns. The city’s councillors and executive will set up shop in Wandi at the new Ngook Boorn Mia-Mia/Honeywood Pavilion on March 22 to host a community event with music, games, 100 free ice creams and a free sausage sizzle by the Kwinana Youth Advisory Council from 4.30pm. Mayor Carol Adams said community members would have the opportunity speak to councillors in a more informal setting before official council business kicks off at 6pm. “We would certainly welcome any members of the public who attend the event to remain behind for the full Council meeting,” she said. City staff will also be on hand to discuss what they are working on in the community and hear any local issues and priorities. Ngook Boorn Mia-Mia/Honeywood Pavilion is the city’s newest community facility in Wandi and Ms Adams said it was exciting to finally have it open to the public. Pavilion facilities and function rooms are now available for public bookings via SpacetoCo.
