Wild weather is set to continue into the weekend in the Rockingham coastal area, with the Bureau of Meteorology predicting wind gusts about 100km/h from 2pm today.

A strong cold front overnight caused about 40mm of rain and 80km/h winds to hit the coast, with some residents experiencing power outages.

A deep low pressure system has been predicted to hit later today, which will bring another 10-20mm of rain and strong winds.

Severe weather warnings have been issues across the states South West today for “damaging winds” and “abnormally high tides.”

According to the Bureau, the Perth area experiences fronts of this “stronger” calibre around five times each year, on average.
