Top talent new to Aussie Rules
Since joining the Wirrpanda Foundation’s Deadly Sista Girlz program in 2017, Gilmore College student Ashleigh Reidy’s passion and dedication for Aussie Rules has reached new heights.
Recently selected to captain the Rio Tinto Woomeras team as part of the national under-16 all-indigenous female football development program held in Darwin last month, Ashleigh has now set her sights on a future in AFLW.
Describing herself as a newcomer to the sport, the midfielder said she was overwhelmed to be announced as team captain.
“After they showed me how to play, I really love the game and am determined to play AFLW in the future,” she said.
About 50 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and multicultural players, split into two teams, participated in the six-day camp focusing on development.
