Top drivers revved up for Monster Trucks Unleashed in Kwinana
This Saturday sees the return of the biggest and baddest machines to Perth Motorplex when the final leg of the national Monster Trucks Unleashed tour revs into Kwinana.
Monster Trucks Unleashed promises an epic night of eight skilled drivers showcasing their handling of these impressive machines as they jump, crush and smash everything in their path.
This year will see a number of American and Canadian drivers hoping to crush not just the cars in their path, but the Aussie competition on their own turf.
Canadian Don Frankish, who has spent a lifetime around motorsports and started his professional career in the mid-80s, will be driving Convict on Saturday night and thinking of his family and how he got his start.
“My brother bought the original Taurus monster truck and ran it for a year, before I decided I needed to get into the sport,” he said.
“I bought a truck and called it Maniac. My brother sold his after a few years and went on to drive for Bigfoot and many others. I continued on my own for many years travelling North America”.
Perhaps best known for his Jurassic Attack truck, Frankish’s thriving career has seen him gain big name sponsors and claim the number 1 monster trucks team rank in Canada, and he was thrilled to be invited on the Monster Trucks Unleashed tour.
“It was an item on the bucket list to travel down under. We are proud to have been invited” he said.
Joining Frankish on the bill are Monster Jam regulars Barry Parkin driving Madness, and Ged Barcroft wreaking havoc in Buddy.
Monster Trucks Unleashed is on Saturday March 9. Gates open at 3pm with trucks on course from 6pm. Tickets are avaialable through Ticketmaster.
