A unique night of light opera is on offer next weekend, with WA Opera soprano Lucy Mervik to perform in Rockingham.

The event has been organised by the Rockingham Friends of Opera group and will be held at Andiamo restaurant on April 8, with the money raised donated to Palm Beach Rotary Club.

Group committee member Dale Kerferd said the formal evening included a three-course dinner and would be a first for Rockingham.

“It will offer something different for music-lovers and people who would usually have to travel to the city to enjoy such an evening,” she said.

“We hope this will be the first of such events which will lift the tone of entertainment in Rockingham and offer theatregoers more choice.

“We believe this will grow into an annual event and the venue will depend on the demand.”

Mervik lives in Rockingham but trained in London and will be joined by Tenor Mat Ward.

Tickets are available from Andiamo on 9592 9946.
