Snapping skills on show
Arming students with the skills and abilities to pursue careers in photography, Warnbro Community High School is currently presenting an exhibition of photographic works.
Being held over the next three weeks, the photographs on show have been taken by the school’s Year 11 and 12 students undertaking a Certificate II in Visual Arts, which has a focus on digital media and photography.
Teacher Dean Edwards said the two-year course taught students digital media skills that were a necessary component of many careers. “We have developed a course that facilitates students to develop photographic skills to a professional level,” he said.
“We do things such as work in a studio setting, look at different ways of lighting, look into occupational health and safety, amongst many other factors.
“It really means the students are going through the process of understanding a camera to a professional level and can be a stepping stone to a career in photography.”
Several sculptures created by students also form part of the exhibition.
