Rotary Club of Rockingham bestows $40,000 bonanza on community groups
About 19 local community organisations will benefit from the latest round of grants from the Rotary Club of Rockingham.
On Monday, April 29, about 19 successful applicants received their share in $40,000 as part of the club’s major grants initiative.
Rockingham Rotary received about 43 applications from community groups, totalling more than $250,000.
Voluntary Rotary Market manager Peter Philipps said the Rotary Club of Rockingham had generated and returned to the community millions of dollars since its inception.
He thanked visitors of the Rockingham Rotary Markets, held each Sunday in the Village Green carpark, for their support and contribution in generating significant funds.
“Recipients of our grants are also asked to spend in our region and to remember that shop local, buy local is the Rockingham way,” he said.
Schools, sporting clubs, parents and citizens associations, and not-for-profit organisations were among the recipients.
