Kwinana Freeway has now been reopened after a Wellard bushfire caused Department of Fire and Emergency Services to close roads in both directions earlier today.

The bushfire is still burning near Millar Road in northern parts of Baldivis but DFES said there was no threat to lives or homes.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke.

About 30 Firefighters are on the scene, with aerial support sent to assist ground crews.
