Police hunt would-be bank robber
A man hunt is underway for a would-be bank robber after a teller was threatened with a knife in an attempted robbery in Rockingham.
Police say a man handed a note to the female teller at a bank on Chalgrove Avenue about 11.15am on October 26 before producing a knife.
The teller was able to attract the attention of a colleague who read the note and then activated an alarm, locking security doors at the bank.
The bungled attempt went from bad to worse when the unsuccessful robber ran into locked doors twice, cracking parts of glass panelling before forcing his way out and fleeing along Central Avenue.
The man was seen carrying a big canvas bag and wearing a bum bag and high-vis shirt.
Detectives are asking anyone who saw the attempted robbery or who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Anyone with dash-cam footage is also asked to contact police.
Information can also be provided online to Crime Stoppers here.
