New funding to support local projects
The City of Kwinana has joined forces with the Kwinana Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank and Kwinana Community Chest to offer an improved funding program to community organisations.
The new Kwinana Community Funding Program will give community organisations the opportunity to apply for up to $5000 funding to support local projects.
The decision to combine the funding of the three organisations came about at the ordinary council meeting held on September 13.
City of Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams and chairman of the Kwinana Community Bank branch of the Bendigo Bank John Iriks said the new program would provide the opportunity to fund larger community projects.
The Kwinana Community Funding Program aims to encourage local community organisations to engage in capacity building and community engagement projects such as running events, groups, art projects, workshops and training courses.
Groups can also apply for funding for minor equipment such as sporting equipment, gardening tools, furniture or trailers.
The first round of Kwinana Community Funding will open on October 1 and close on October 31.
A grants assessment and approval process will be under-taken by a panel made up of two representatives from each organisation.
