Local art group to showcase its work
Gary Holland Community Centre will come alive with colour this week, when Rockingham Watercolour Society hosts a special mixed media exhibition.
Running until Sunday, some of Rockingham Watercolour Society’s best art will go on display, with an exciting array of work available for visitors to see.
RWS president Peta Heaney said the display showcased the talents of artists who had worked outside of their comfort zones.
“The public can expect to see some exciting, innovative mixed media painting during the exhibition,” she said.
Rockingham Watercolour Society has 60 members and is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary next year.
Ms Heaney said the society’s members brought a diverse range of ideas and skill sets to the table.
“Most of us are in our 50s plus — what I love about the group is the friendships and the camaraderie that has evolved,” she said.
The group hosts two main exhibitions a year, with the next — a traditional watercolour exhibition — scheduled for November.
The exhibition this week will run from 10am to 4pm daily; before wrapping up at 1pm on Sunday.
