Young people in Rockingham and Kwinana are being urged to apply for an indigenous leadership program that would expose them to Federal politics in Canberra.

The National Indigenous Youth Parliament will see 50 applicants aged 16 to 25 travel to Australia’s capital city for a week.

During this time the youngsters will learn about law-making, public speaking, media engagement and parliament.

Member for Brand Madeleine King said it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for people in the Rockingham and Kwinana area.

“This program is a fantastic learning experience which gives participants the opportunity to share their thoughts and views on issues of importance while being taught all manner of leadership skills,” she said.

The closing date for applications is March 3. Further information is available at www.aec.gov.au/Indigenous.
