Kwinana residents in for Great Cocky Count
The City of Kwinana is encouraging anyone who would like to participate in The Great Cocky Count to attend a free workshop on Saturday to learn more about the behaviour and preferred habitats of black cockatoos.
The workshop will give specific information about the red-tailed and carnaby cockatoos, as well as the opportunity to register directly for the event on April 8.
Volunteers will monitor known roost sites and count black cockatoos as they come into their evening roosts.
The Great Cocky Count is one of the biggest citizen science projects in Australia and data collected from across the southwest provides a snapshot of black cockatoo numbers and identifies any changes or trends.
This workshop will be held by Birdlife Australia in conjunction with the City of Kwinana on Saturday from 4pm at the John Wellard Community Centre.
