Group empower fellow women

A group of Rockingham women have come together to encourage others to “rise up and to be a positive force for change” in the community.

City Women are hosting an Empower Conference on Saturday, October 31 to share how women can support the community through volunteer work, as well as providing an opportunity to meet together in worship and scriptural teaching.

City Women co-founder Chelsea Wilson said they formed to encourage unity among women in Rockingham and to equip and empower them to “help the hurting, minister to the vulnerable and see our city thrive”.

Although the group aims to unite Christian women, they are open to welcoming other like-minded members.

“We just see that there is a great need in our City and there are a lot of churches who have the same focus and heart,” Mrs Wilson said.

“Part of our main focus is to strengthen what already exists of the great services that are part of our community.”

“Everyone has a need and everyone has something to give - so that’s kind of the birth of it.”

City women will be ongoing but its launch event will focus on highlighting organisations that are already in the community

“We know that there are lots of other organisations out there and our aim is to each conference highlight the different organisations and different places that people can serve,” Mrs Wilson said.

“Our initial focus is on adolescent girls in our community to help them have the best possible future.”
