Five-star Rockingham City dispatch Curtin Uni in FFA Cup
Rockingham City came from behind to chalk up a resounding 5-1 win over Division 2 Curtin University at Lark Hill on Saturday to reach the preliminary quarter finals of the FFA Cup.
Curtin, who set out to be defensively solid, shocked the home side when they took the lead just 20 minutes in through Malek Domkoc.
Despite the setback, Rockingham kept their shape although they were unable to get back on terms in the first half.
However, their superior fitness told throughout the second period and once the NPL WA side did level through James Harmer, they didn’t look back.
Substitute Mitch Firth made it 2-1 not long after coming on but Curtin, to their credit, stayed in the game until very late on, when a rash of goals gave the final score a one-sided look.
James Pottier added the third to finally break Curtin’s resistance before man of the match Harmer claimed his second in the 89th minute and Harvey Hancock rounded off a comfortable win in added time.
