No stranger to donating to various charities and causes, Baldivis Secondary College student Kiara Taylor has collected a range of sporting equipment to be passed on to young children in Fiji.

After hearing her parents were travelling to the country for a holiday, Kiara contact Peel Thunder, the Rockingham Flames and WANRL, asking if they could donate items to pass on to Fijian children.

“My parents said they were going to visit an orphanage and so I thought this could help out,” she said.

The three organisations have donated a range of items, from basketballs, AFL balls and rugby balls to T-shirts, caps and toys.

Kiara said she had been overwhelmed by the response.

Baldivis Secondary College principal Keith Svendsen said he was extremely proud of the school’s students.

“A lot of the work we do is about empowering our students to be positive members who contribute to the community,” he said.

“Kiara and the students continually amaze me with how they get involved with the wider community,” Mr Svendsen said.
