Councils wary of planning reforms

Planning Minister Rita Saffioti has hit back at the City of Kwinana’s claims the State Government has “hastily” rushed through red-tape cuts in an effort to boost the post-COVID-19 economy.

A major overhaul of planning laws was announced by the Premier last week, proposing a new streamlined development application process, which would cut council red tape and fast-track assessment of major projects worth more than $30 million.
