The 2018 Peel Football League season will get started on Saturday, with Baldivis Football Club hosting Rockingham Rams in a huge local derby.

The cross-town rivals met on three occasions last year, with the Rams winning the first clash before Baldivis bounced back and won the next two.

Speaking to the Telegraph ahead of the big game, Baldivis coach Craig Hamersley said his side were focused on having a good start to the season after they hit a few bumps early last year.

“We had a really slow start last year but this year’s been really good — we’ve had great player buy-in and we’ve been able to keep the majority of our playing list together, which has been really handy,” Hamersley said.

“Something we learned at the start of last year coming off a premiership is that we probably got ahead of ourselves. We felt like we were setting our goals for finals before the season had even started.

“We’ve tried to make it right this pre-season.”

While Hamersley remained tight-lipped on big-name recruits, he did confirm there could be something exciting in the pipeline.

A returfing of the surface at Baldivis Oval forcedthe Brumbies to carry out pre-season training on a Warnbro school oval.

“It hasn’t been ideal but we’re back home now and the grass is looking fantastic,” Hamersley said.

Bounce-down at Baldivis Oval this Saturday is at 2.30pm.
