State Government prepared to release 55 hectares of zoned residential development land to market in Bunbury

A huge area of land will soon be up for grabs for aspiring homeowners in the South West. The State Government, through DevelopmentWA, is prepared to release 55ha of zoned residential development land to market in Usher, within the city of Bunbury. The release would make for a substantial increase in local residential land supply to support housing growth. The planning for the site has been recently reviewed to ensure it meets modern development requirements, and the Water Corporation has confirmed funding to deliver the required upgrades, subject to agreement with the future developer. DevelopmentWA is working to release the land to market imminently, giving developers an opportunity to deliver more than 300 new residential lots in the South West. Planning and Lands Minister John Carey said the State Government was working to accelerate the delivery of housing, including through land releases across Western Australia. “This release creates development opportunity for new homes in Bunbury, and through DevelopmentWA, the land will be fast-tracked to the market,” he said. South West Minister Don Punch said as Bunbury and the wider South West region continued to grow, so did the need for more housing. “The land at Usher, once developed, has the potential to provide up to 300 new homes and will help to address housing needs in the area,” he said. “I am thrilled this development that I strongly advocated for has come to fruition.”
