Pure Gold Bootscooters bag 41 medals at West State Line Up competition in Perth

Kalgorolie-Boulder’s Pure Gold Bootscooters enjoyed plenty of success at this month’s West State Line Up competition in Perth, bringing home 41 medals, including 21 gold.

Teacher Andrea Smith said outstanding performers included 11-year-old Lilly Mulqueen, who received the Up & Rising Star Trophy award, and first-time competitor Mathew Robbilliard, 6, who bagged gold, silver and bronze medals.

Veritee Smith, 19, choreographed her own dance and competed in the 16 years to 45 years own choice duo section with fellow dancer Emma-Lee Robilliard, with the pair winning the gold medal in the division.

Sarah Smith also choreographed her own dance for the novice own choice duo section with Lilly Mulqueen, with the pair winning the gold medal.

This dance was also entered in the under-15 own choice duo section, with dancers Mulqueen and Isabella Hill winning gold.

Andrea Smith said Pure Gold Bootscooters teamed up with Urban Cowboys, so both clubs’ inexperienced dancers had a chance to compete in the novice team section — a move which paid off handsomely with the gold medal.

The combined clubs also claimed silver in the 45 years to 60 years section.

Andrea Smith said the event was followed by the Pink Boot Charity Ball, with the WA line dancing community coming together to dance the night away and raise $19,435 for the Toby for Childhood Cancer charity.
