In Pictures: Pemberley’s Sculpture in the Vines opens with strong community turnout

Pemberley welcomed more than 70 members of the community on Friday April 17 for the official opening of Sculpture in the Vines 2026, marking the beginning of the much-loved exhibition in partnership with Pemberton Arts Group.

Held among the colourful autumn vines, the opening night celebrated artists, sponsors, organisers and community supporters, with guests gathering to view this year’s collection of sculptural works.

The exhibition was officially opened by judge Lyn Di Ciero, who praised the standard of entries in her address.

This year’s exhibition includes sculptures from secondary students across the district and beyond, with prizes awarded across three age groups.

In the adult section, more than $19,000 was awarded through a combination of cash and acquisitive prizes.

The major $15,000 acquisitive award went to Yallingup sculptor Wayne Smith for his work Joining Forces.

The award was jointly presented by the Pemberton Arts Group and the Shire of Manjimup, with the sculpture to be permanently installed within the shire for public viewing. Local artists Mark Grey-Smith, Kim Perrier, Warwick Backhouse and Paul Fontanini are also featured, alongside a broad range of works from across the South West and further afield. Pemberley brand manager Lisa Radomiljac said the event has become a highlight of the region’s autumn calendar. “Sculpture in the Vines is a great example of community, creativity and place coming together,” she said. “To see such a strong turnout on opening night and the celebration of both emerging and established artists was fantastic. We encourage everyone to come out and experience the exhibition while it’s here.”Sculpture in the Vines is open daily from 11am to 4pm until Sunday, April 26.
