How would an extra $5,000 change your Christmas plans?

One lucky Karratha resident has the chance to walk away with some extra holiday spending money, with an equestrian influencer and horse club partnering for a super special giveaway.

The Golden Horseshoe Hunt is described as a “real-world treasure hunt” designed to give back to regional communities.

Influencer Kate Redmond, who is better known to her 500,000 followers as My Pilbara Equestrian Life, will hide a distinctive gold horseshoe at a top-secret Karratha spot on Wednesday.

A series of clues teasing the Golden Horseshoe’s location will be posted on Ms Redmond’s Facebook and Instagram in the lead-up to December 25, guiding Karratha locals towards the location of the prize.

If someone finds the horseshoe before Christmas Eve, they will win a shocking $5,000 just in time for the holidays.

The equestrian influencer said she felt “honoured” to be included in the giveaway.

“I’m honoured to be part of giving someone in our community a huge $5k before Christmas,” Ms Redmond said.

“I’m sure it will go a long way at this time of year and I hope someone that could really do with the extra cash finds it.

“What a way to end the year!”

The contest will not just take place in Karratha — with other horseshoes being hidden in the Gold Coast, Sydney and Brisbane.

Each shoe is fitted with a GPS tracker and unique verification code to ensure fairness for all competitors.

The company behind the hunt, Horsey People, is known for their country lifestyle products, including equestrian and farming tools.

The company’s founder and director Menashe Segman said the contest forms part of the company’s commitment to supporting regional and rural Australians.

“Through our ongoing partnership with Farm Angels we support farming families year-round, however we wanted to create something that also brings a bit of joy and excitement to the community,” Mr Segman said.

“The Golden Horseshoe Hunt is our way of saying thank you to the people who support us and of spreading some Christmas cheer.”

To take part, Karratha locals who are 18+ just need to follow both Kate Redmond and the Horsey People on social media and follow the posted clues to find the lucky Horseshoe first.

Happy hunting!
