Dalyellup dominate Queen Bees in advanced round 12 fixture

Dalyellup have dominated the Burekup Queen Bees at home, in an early edition of the round 12 fixtures.
Playing on Saturday while the rest of the competition entered the summer break, Burekup won the toss and opted to send the home side in to bat.
Donna McCabe’s 16 off 28 and Danielle Verhaaf’s four off 27 saw Dalyelup off to a steady start, with the pair retiring, making way for skipper Tasmyn Verhaaf and Laycee Hallion.
From then on, it was full steam ahead for Dalyellup, with Tasmyn Verhaaf knocking 33 at a run-a-ball pace, including five fours, and Hallion falling just four runs shy of a half-century before the 20 overs were completed.
Natasha Hazell was the only Burekup bowler to get amongst the wickets, bowling Natasha Verhaaf in the final delivery of the Dalyellup innings.
Queen Bees’ skipper Monique Catalano put in an economical spell, conceding just nine off her four overs, leaving her side with a lofty 140 run chase.
With Eryn Kirk and Claire Gilotti falling for a combined single in the Queen Bees’ chase, their prospects looked dim, but Kate Baker’s 27 off 25 and Olivia Knapp’s unbeaten 17 provided a glimmer of hope.
The middle order of Abigail Keeler, Natasha Hazell and Marlee Mosele hung in, but the Queen Bees ran out of time, finishing 61 short at 8-88.
With the holiday break upon the league, the women won’t take the field until February 1 in what will be the first of two remaining T20 fixtures.
