‘Antiques dealer’ Stacey Dawn Lambert says 15g of meth was for personal use, baggies were for buttons

An “antiques dealer” says 15g of meth allegedly found in her home was for personal use, while clip seal bags were for antique buttons, not drug dealing. Stacey Dawn Lambert was on bail awaiting sentencing for almost 7g of meth with intent to sell and supply when police allegedly found the larger quantity of meth in her home on July 10. Her lawyer, Paul Holmes, launched a bail application in Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court last week stating Ms Lambert admitted the 15g of meth was in her possession, but disputed the intent to sell or supply aspect. He said police did not find a large amount of cash or a “tick list”, which often indicated the dealing of drugs. He also said small clip-seal bags found in her home were for storing antique buttons, not for dealing drugs. Since Ms Lambert was on bail for the original drug dealing charge, Mr Holmes needed to prove exceptional circumstances for her bail to be considered. He relied on the chance her charge could be downgraded — since she denied the dealing element — and the fact she played a significant step-mother role for her partner’s seven-year-old child. Magistrate Janie Gibbs said there was some irony in the woman who admitted to possessing 15g of meth for personal use being important in raising a young child. She ruled it was not an exceptional circumstance and refused bail. Ms Lambert is set to be sentenced for the original drug dealing charge in the District Court later this year and the new charge will make its way up to the higher court at a future date. No formal plea was entered to the charge.
