Power restored to more than 104,000 homes, businesses more than 36 hours after summer storm

More than 104,000 homes and businesses have had their power restored more than 36 hours after a summer storm lashed through the State’s south on Sunday afternoon.
Western Power on Tuesday confirmed power had been re-instated for all Perth customers after the storm battered the Perth metropolitan, Mid West and Wheatbelt regions.
However, up to 11,000 customers in the State’s Mid West remained without power as a result of several bushfires, which have affected services and equipment in the region.
A bushfire watch and act is in place for parts of the shires of Chittering, Gingin, Dandaragan, Victoria Plains and Coorow and Warradarge.
“There remains a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is burning in the area and conditions are changing,” a Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson said.

Western Power on Tuesday thanked the community for its patience while crews attended to the storm-related network faults outages, and said customers who had experienced an extended power outage could apply for an inconvenience payment.
“Customers who experienced an outage for longer than 12 consecutive hours are encouraged to apply for an extended outage payment,” a spokesperson said.
