Perth hit and run: Man, 48, charged over horrifying incident that put woman in hospital

A Greenwood man has been charged over an alleged hit-and-run that left a woman seriously injured.

Police say the incident unfolded in the Perth CBD about 3.15pm on Wednesday afternoon.

The 48-year-old man was driving a white Ford Ranger utility on the Mounts Bay Road on-ramp to the Mitchell Freeway when he allegedly hit a pedestrian who was crossing the road.

The pedestrian, a 44-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.

Police will allege the driver did not stop to help the woman despite her injuries.

The man has been charged with one count of being a driver who failed to report an incident occasioning death or grievous bodily harm, and one count of being a driver who failed to stop and ensure assistance was received after an incident occasioning grievous bodily harm.

He is due before Perth Magistrates Court on January 5, 2026.
