Byford Secondary College and Salvado Catholic College sent into lockdown over reports of person with knife

A knife scare sent two schools in Perth’s south east into lockdown on Monday afternoon.

Byford Secondary College and nearby Salvado Catholic College were locked down, with students taking shelter in classrooms and sheds for safety, after reports of a juvenile carrying either a knife or a machete near one of the schools.

A person has since been apprehended but WA Police said they have not yet recovered a weapon.

There has been a heavy police presence outside Byford Secondary College.

Police said there are no reports of any injuries.
