Police searching for missing man near Newman

Police are calling on anyone with information regarding a missing 70-year-old after his car was discovered abandoned about 110km south of Newman.

Michael Gill was travelling to Perth from South Hedland on June 14 and was driving a grey, 2010 model, Toyota Kluger with WA registration 1GCY949.

Police located the vehicle abandoned in bushland approximately 110kms south of Newman town site on June 21.

It is believed Mr Gill may have been walking along the Great Northern Highway approximately 30kms north of the Kumarina Road house on the morning of June 17.

Concerns are held for his welfare and police urge anyone who sights Mr Gill or has information relating to his whereabouts, to contact police immediately on 131 444.
