Safety Bay Tennis Club’s young guns showed their ability recently, winning a division title in the summer pennant competition.

The Rockingham club hosted the Tennis West Summer pennant competition, which saw talented players from across the region take to the courts.

The home under-12s side defeated Kwinana in their grand final, with a number of singles and doubles games going the way of the Safety Bay club.

Team co-ordinator Dean Lings said the appointment of new club coach, Kalina Dyankova, had played an important role in the side’s success.

“The boys have been together for three seasons now and a couple of them overcame injuries at the start of the season,” he said.

“Since the new coach has come on board there has been a big improvement and their standard has come a long way.

“They all have bright future sin the sport, but it depends on how serious they get.”

Mr Lings said the club was open to new members, both young and old.
