Roads from Rockingham to Roleystone will turn pink this weekend when hundreds of bikers roar through the southern suburbs for a good cause.

About 500 motorcycle riders and passengers are expected to amass in pink on Saturday for Perth and Rockingham Harley-Davidson’s annual Pink Ribbon Ride in support of women with breast cancer.

The Pink Ribbon Ride fundraiser, which has raised about $82,000 since 2012, will be held in memory of Gerda Dunkel, a dearly loved member of the Perth Harley-Davidson family.

This year funds from the ride will be donated to Breast Cancer Care WA, which provides specialist breast care nursing, counselling and financial support to people affected by breast cancer.

Rockingham Harley-Davidson general manager Jade Redfearn said the ride had become Perth Harley-Davidson’s biggest charity fundraiser thanks to generous donations from local businesses.

“It really is a sight to see these big burly bikers and their Harleys dressed head to toe in pink,” he said. “Any motorbike can take part — you don’t have to have a Harley to join in.”

Participants will gather at Rockingham Harley-Davidson on Enterprise Way from 10am.

The procession will then weave through the southern suburbs, to Fremantle before ending at the Roleystone Country Club for live music and food.
