Police are appealing for information after a woman in her 80s was allegedly sexually assaulted in her Waikiki home early this morning.

Detectives are door knocking in the area searching for anyone who may have heard or seen any suspicious activity.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen a man described as being in his early 20s, with dark skin, approximately 168cms tall, and of medium build.

He was wearing black coloured clothing and a black baseball cap.
