Vandals have again targeted a Baldivis sports field, with the turf cricket wicket at Arpenteur Park damaged by hoons overnight.

The damage to the park, which is home to White Knights Baldivis Cricket Club, follows vandals similarly tearing up the Baldivis Brumbies Football Club’s senior oval on Fifty Road in November.

A timber bollard surrounding the oval was damaged, allowing the vandals to drive onto the oval.

Baldivs MLA Reece Whitby and City of Rockingham Baldivis Ward Councillor Matthew Whitfield have both expressed their outrage at the vandalism.

“I can’t believe the stupidity and selfishness of anyone who would commit such an act of vandalism,” Mr Whitby said.

“This mindless act of destruction strikes at the heart of a great local community sporting group.”

Mr Whitfield called the act “absolutely mindless and very brazen”.

“A small minority ruin things for everyone else... the damage (is) limited to one entrance bollard and the actual cricket square itself, and thankfully (is) not as bad as it could potentially have been,” he said.

Mr Whitby added he would work to see if surveillance cameras could be installed at Arpenteur Park and other ovals in the wake of the two acts.

White Knights Baldivis’ B grade was scheduled to play Shoalwater at the oval on Saturday.
