Students share wisdom to make positive impact

Chloe FraserSound Telegraph

Baldivis Secondary College sustainability students and bushrangers led workshops and presentations on sustainability at Baldivis Children’s Forest last Friday as part of this year’s Kids Teaching Kids Perth and Peel Region Conference.

About 160 students from State and private schools across Perth participated in the national two-day program to help children make a positive impact on the world.

Baldivis Secondary College students taught younger students on the day, presenting workshops about sustainability, food and identification of animal tracks and traces, as well as the impact of over-fishing on the environment.

Baldivis Children’s Forest administrative co-ordinator Hannah Godsave said the aim of the program was to connect students with like-minded children to share ideas on environmental issues and possible solutions.

“Facilitating this shared learning experience in a natural environment really helps the children to connect to the importance of environmental leadership and conservation,” she said.
