Spate of Wellard crimes

Cecilia AllenSound Telegraph

Kwinana police have increased its presence in the Wellard area following a spate of burglaries occurring last week.

Six crimes occurred in Wellard on October 19, ranging from home burglaries and stealing possessions from inside motor vehicles.

Kwinana acting Senior Sergeant Gary Benzies said police would increase patrol strength in the area and encouraged the community to keep an eye out for any suspicious behaviour.

“A lot of these types of crimes are opportunistic and are happening because people are leaving a back door open,” he said.

Snr Sgt Benzies also encouraged people to be vigilant, lock their home and cars, and report suspicious behaviour and crimes immediately rather than later so police increase their reaction time.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Kwinana Police Station on 9411 4311.
