Snap up a little gem
The Rockingham Regional Arts annual More Smalls exhibition is now open, with a range of artwork available for purchase.
With more than 160 pieces on display in the exhibition, the works cover a range of mediums and are not limited by theme — just by size.
The group has been running for 15 years and has over 120 members, running a range of classes and workshops weekly, including life drawing, portraiture and pastels, among others.
Rockingham Regional Arts president Lorri Skinner said the exhibition provided members with the confidence to exhibit their work in a group environment.
“We had people join the group after coming to the exhibition last year and we also have members breaking off and hosting solo exhibitions,” she said.
All of the pieces will be on sale, which Ms Skinner said was a great chance to purchase an original work by a local artist. She said she hoped the exhibition would encourage the appreciation of original artworks and make them affordable and accessible.
Exhibiting artists were also given the chance to have their works critiqued by artist and previous judge of the Black Swan Prize for Portraiture Gillian Peebles.
More Smalls runs daily from 9am-4pm at the Rockingham Arts Centre on Kent Street until this Sunday, August 25.
