Sign up to get crime updates

Kwinana police are encouraging more people to subscribe to an email-based system which aims to keep the community up to date with crime and other community events.

ewatch is a free service provided through WA Police and Neighbourhood Watch, which provides updates on local crime trends and statistics, safety initiatives, emerging issues and community building events.

Kwinana Police Station Senior Sergeant Rob Read said he was encouraging more people to sign up as the uptake was low, particularity in the Baldivis area.

“I realise people get their information from different sources,” he said.

“ewatch gives you links to statistics and crime in your area as well as information from your local police and council.”

Sr Sgt Read said a survey on ewatch had indicated people would like to see updates on a weekly basis, which he said Kwinana Police Station would endeavour to do.

“I’d encourage people to also get their neighbours and friends involved as well,” he said.

Residents will need to fill in an online form available from the ewatch website to join. Once done, they will automatically receive free articles from police, Neighbourhood Watch and the Shire.
