Salvos to move from Fifty Road home

The Salvation Army in Baldivis will be on the move early in the new year, after it was confirmed it had sold its Fifty Road site, with Kwinana’s Paradox Church set to move in.

Originally run as a camp site for many years, the Salvation Army has been involved with the Baldivis site since the 1960s.

With the settlement date set for January 22, the hardworking team will continue to operate at Fifty Road until then; before embarking on a new community-based venture.

Salvation Army Baldivis officer Lt Ronald Stobie said that while the corps was moving from its long-time home, the team was committed to remaining in the Baldivis area.

“Rather than having one place that everyone goes to, we’ll be setting up different communities that are for specific people,” he said

“So it might be single mums or FIFO parents — whatever the need is, we’ll be setting up communities to connect with that and the people to reach their biggest needs.”

In the long term the Salvation Army is believed to have plans for a purpose-built facility closer to the community.

Paradox Church senior pastor Brad Joss said the church was hoping to move to the site in March 2018.

“Our first goal is to renovate and revitalise the existing buildings on site and eventually to establish a conference centre with short-term accommodation,” Mr Joss said. “We are really excited about the opportunities that this property will provide for us to have a positive impact on our local community.”

Salvation Army Baldivis will host a church service on Christmas Eve, as well as a Christmas Day service at 10am, before leaving in late January next year.
