Rockingham Rotary to help with fire relief
Members of the Rockingham Rotary Club have decided to dedicate the money raised from donations and bay fees at this weekend’s markets to the bushfire appeal in NSW.
Rotary club president Beth Philipps said while the club had not decided which area of the bushfires they would donate the funds, they would be deciding in the near future.
“We have not yet decided exactly which area of the fires we will support, but the money will be donated through Rotary directly, so there will not be any administration costs,” she said.
Mrs Philipps also said while she had not asked any stalls to donate money they raised at the event to the fires, she said many did so anyway.
“There was a stall that I saw last week that donated their day’s takings, Jazzy’s Jams, they donated over $300, the barbecue also had a jar available for donations,” she said.
About 140 stalls will be available to those who attend on Sunday in the Kent Street Car Park behind the Rockingham Dome and Gary Holland Centre.
