A Leda man was arrested last week after a search of his car, with police claiming he had weapons, drugs and more than $27,000 in cash in his possession.

Traffic enforcement officers stopped a blue Holden Rodeo on Ennis Avenue in Rockingham about 8pm on Thursday night.

A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered a .22 sawn off rifle and a spent .22 casing underneath the driver’s seat.

Police say Rockingham Detectives were asked to attend the scene and a further search resulted in a double-barrel shotgun and .22 ammunition being located.

The man is also alleged to have had more than $27,000 in the car and a quantity of methamphetamine.

Rick Jarad Den Ridder appeared in Rockingham Magistrates Court on Friday. He was remanded in custody to reappear in the same court on June 12.

The 34-year-old faces five charges including possession of a firearm in circumstances of aggravation, possession of an unlicensed firearm carried with drugs and cash, and possession of a prohibited drug.
