Rockingham Flames and Bizlink support first all-abilities affiliated SBL team
The Rockingham Flames and a disability employment service provider have teamed up to fit out and support the first all-abilities affiliated State Basketball League team.
Bizlink Quality Employment recently partnered with the local SBL club to sponsor the inaugural Rockingham Flames All Abilities Group.
Bizlink marketing manager Steve Mangan said the provider’s role in assisting people with a disability to secure and maintain open employment opportunities tied in perfectly with the ethos of the all-abilities team.
“It’s great that these guys get to wear the same uniforms as the SBL teams and hopefully one day they’ll get to play on the same courts on the same day as a curtain-raiser to the SBL teams,” he said.
The team recently took part in the Everyone’s Game Carnival at Bendat Basketball Centre, an opportunity for people of all-abilities to participate in a revised version of the game and experience the thrill of full court basketball.
