Rhysean Lee: Father of 25-year-old killed on Kwinana Freeway says ‘his absence leaves a space no one can fill’

The devastated family of a motorbike rider who tragically died in a horror crash on the Kwinana Freeway have paid tribute to their son who “had a way of making life feel a little less serious and a lot more joyful”. “His absence leaves a space no one else can fill,” the father of 25-year-old Rhysean Lee, Malcolm Lee, said. “And though the world feels quieter without him, our hearts beat louder with the memory of his love. “He is forever missed, but never gone — because love like his doesn’t end, it echoes.” Rhysean Lee was driving southbound on the Kwinana Freeway on his black Harley-Davidson motorcycle when it smashed into a blue GM ute near Rowley Road, in Aubin Grove, about 5.20pm on Wednesday. The driver of the ute was not injured and stopped to assist Mr Lee. The 25-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Fiona Stanley Hospital, where he later died. Malcolm Lee told The West Australian Rhysean “had the biggest heart”. “He lived with honesty and walked through life true to his word — a rare soul who meant what he said and stood by what he believed in,” he said. “A born larrikin, he brought lightness wherever he went. “That cheeky grin, the quick wit, and the way he could make anyone laugh — even on the hardest days — are things we’ll never forget. He had a way of making life feel a little less serious and a lot more joyful.” Peel Diamond Sports posted a tribute on Thursday morning, remembering Mr Lee as a “beloved member of our baseball community”. “Rhysean and his family have been pillars of our club and the wider Peel baseball community for many years,” the post reads. “Whether it was coaching, umpiring, serving on club and charter committees, or simply lending a hand whenever needed — Rhysean gave his heart and soul to the game.” Players have been asked to wear black armbands to this weekend’s game in memory of Mr Lee. “In honour of Rhysean’s and his family’s immense contribution and the friendship his family has shown so many of us, PDS will be wearing black armbands during our opening round as a mark of respect,” the post reads. “We will also be collecting donations to support the Lee family during this incredibly difficult time and help with ongoing costs. “All past members are asked to come and support our teams this weekend and show up for the Lee family. “To the Lee family — thank you for everything you’ve given to Peel Baseball, our hearts are with you, and we are proud to stand by your side now, just as you stood by ours for so many years. “Rest in peace Seany, you will always be part of the game.” Rockingham Rams Baseball Club also played tribute to the 25-year-old, saying he spent years playing, coaching and volunteering with the club. “On behalf of the Rockingham Rams we extend our deepest condolences to the Lee family on the passing of Rhysean Lee,” they said in a post. “Rhysean and his family have been dedicated members of our baseball region for many years. “From taking the diamond, supporting JJ or coaching charter he did so with kindness, with a good heart and with his true larrikin style. “Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
